INGLEWOOD, Calif. (October 8, 2011)—Excessive Passion and Ain’t No Other, the last two winners of the Harry Henson during Hollywood Park’s Spring/Summer meet, are among eight entered in the $100,000 Morvich Monday at Santa Anita.
A Grade III at about 6 ½ furlongs on turf, the Morvich is the eighth of nine races on the Columbus Day card. Post time is 1 p.m. Track gates at Hollywood Park open at 10:30 a.m. for simulcasts.
Owned by breeder Tommy Town Thoroughbreds and trained by Steve Miyadi, Ain’t No Other won the 2011 Henson by three-quarters of a length April 21. The 3-year-old Old Topper gelding has won six of 10 overall and earned $202,243.
A 17-1 upsetter in the 2010 Henson, Excessive Passion will be seeking his second win as a 4-year-old for a partnership and trainer Jeff Bonde. The Vronsky colt has won half of his eight outings and has banked $143,940.
The field also includes Leroy’s Dynameaux, who won the 2010 Will Rogers at Hollywood Park, 2011 Los Angeles Handicap winner – via disqualification – Camp Victory and California Flag, a two-time winner of the Morvich.
In the third race, impressive debut winners Secret Circle and Sweet Swap, a full brother to Sidney’s Candy, will square off in the $65,000 Jack Goodman at six furlongs.
